Frequently asked questions
What is a Unix timestamp?
Unix time is the number of seconds (or milliseconds) since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z, not counting leap seconds in the usual POSIX definition.
Is this an epoch converter?
Yes. Epoch time and Unix timestamp refer to the same counter. This page converts both seconds and milliseconds.
Seconds or milliseconds?
If the number is at least 1e11 in magnitude, it is treated as milliseconds. Otherwise as seconds.
Does conversion use my timezone?
Local time uses your browser timezone. UTC and ISO stay timezone-independent.
Is the timestamp sent to a server?
Processed locally in your browser. We do not upload the text to compute a result.
